Letter from Sam about pricing •
Dear Valued Customers –
Let’s not dance around the cost, I want you to know that reliable roofs are expensive. I’ve spent the last 9 years meeting with customers at their properties; sometimes 4 homes in a day. I’ve seen firsthand what the consumer faces when they shop for a roof. I’ve watched well-intentioned companies present themselves as experts, only to fall short when it came to delivering a leak-free roof. There’s trickery out there. I’ve seen contractors talk smooth, cut corners, and leave homeowners with the mess. New homeowners that don’t have experience with contractors yet can fall victim to the risk that comes with hiring a low-priced roofer. I’ve seen home builders get financially ruined because they had multiple projects start leaking at the same time after working with a new roofer. It’s not uncommon for roof leaks to cause $25k damage when water gets into the exterior walls and if you have a luxury home with high-dollar finishes, that number climbs fast. When water gets into your walls, the damage can include removing stone and sheathing from the exterior, tile, cabinets, and flooring on the interior.
I’ve been at this for a while now, and I’ve built a crew that shares my mindset: do good work, bring real value. We know our customers work hard for their money — and they shouldn’t have to spend it twice fixing water damage from a bad roof job.
My labor costs are higher because I pay my roofers well and offer real benefits. That’s how I keep skilled professionals who know what they’re doing. When we show up, we bring the right tools, the right mindset, and the experience to tackle every task with precision. When we finish a job, it’s done — no shortcuts, no surprises.
The low-cost crews? They’ll beat up your siding, trash your landscaping, leave ducting unhooked, and wreck your gutters. And that’s assuming they even get the roof installed correctly.
There are certain parts of a roof that fail before the main roof does. The difference between a metal vent and a plastic vent could be about $20. When customers get water-damage from a cheap vent, they sure wish that builder or roofer wouldn’t have cut that $20 from the job just to drive price down.
I can give you a great roof that adds value and grows your investment, but I can’t do it for the same price that the low-price guys will wreck your investment for. On the flip side, I don’t run a high commission sales model either. My $30k roof has way more value than the big company’s $30k roof; I’m not paying a commission, that money is going to expert roof installers.
Lots of companies are offering online pricing, it’s a good way to hook and reel you in. Nobody can accurately price your roof replacement out without seeing the home. I’m not giving you online pricing, but I am giving you some advice, know who’s installing your roof and protect your dollars😊
